Crafty Communications with Night Owl Paper Goods

I received the products mentioned here free for the purpose of review, all views and opinions are my own honest evaluations. See Disclosure.
If you follow my blog then you know I have an addiction to paper crafting, and I can't get enough! I love creating projects with different card stock and designer papers, but recently I was introduced to a whole new medium. When I learned about Night Owl Paper Goods I thought what most people wood, that they use the typical card stock for their cards, but wood you believe they actually use wood? What makes this Paper Goods company different is what makes them special. I don't have to go out on a limb to say they are passionate about what they do, I can see they are by their products. I received a bundle of goodies to review, and as you can see in the top picture they all arrived in a printed cloth sack. I was immediately impressed with the overall attention to detail and quality. Owl have to say I was in love with the fact that each card was individually wrapped to keep them organized and looking great. (Excuse all my puns, I couldn't help myself!)
I selected a variety of greeting cards for this review, and I even chose a blank do-it-yourself card and some embellishments to create my own. While browsing the Night Owl Paper Goods site, I fell in love with the folksy down to earth styling that caught my eye in the beginning they are a company after my own heart. Beauty in the smallest of details can mean all the difference when you're sending a card to a loved one. Their cards are not your typical folded greeting cards, which also makes them unique (as if being printed on wood isn't enough!).
Below you can see the Mother's day card I chose for my mom. I usually create a card for my mom, since she appreciates my craftiness, but when I saw this card on the Night Owl Paper Goods site, I knew it was for her. Simple yet bold, and the bright pinks and orange stood out on the darker grain of the background. Hopefully you can make out the smooth grain texture in my pictures. I had an easy time writing my special message to my mom on the back side of the card using a regular ink pen. On the back of the card I loved that there were small flowers at the top just going the extra mile to make this card amazing. As pictured above they also had a Father's day card that fit my dad perfectly with camouflage!
Calling themselves eco-chic Night Owl Paper Goods are eco-friendly! Made in the USA in Birmingham, Alabama (Owlabama) and started by a couple of dreamers who wanted to share their passion with the rest of us folksy loving crafters. I had a wooden stationary card to use and some of the circle embellishments I had selected. Self admittedly I was a little bit worried about how my ink would do on this new medium, but thankfully and to my surprise it did great. You can see the card I created below.

Here are the steps I took to create this "Dare to Dream" card for a friend.
  1. Select the medium, embellishments, and tools (stamps).
  2. I chose the Dare to Dream stamp set for it's whimsical design, and it's gorgeous!
  3. For the pretties, I used the Green Wood Buttons from Night Owl Paper Goods, and ribbon.
  4. Lay everything out to get the placement right.
  5. Adhere the button in place.
  6. Stamp my images.
  7. Tie on the ribbon.
  8. Ready to send a hand-crafted unique card to a friend!
Being more pleased with the way this card turned out just isn't possible. I'm in love. Now I have a card on hand for almost any occasion. Since I've made a card using the Night Owl Paper Goods' Flat Birch Note Card, I'm completely in love with this new medium. The really cool part about selecting a do-it-yourself card is you can also choose the envelope color from over 6 different shades. Either way you go, a do-it-yourself card or a ready made greeting card from Night Owl Paper Goods' huge selection you just can't go wrong. The person who is on the receiving end of a Night Owl Paper Goods card is going to know you took the time to make it special just for them.
