Isn't it strange how a certain scent can spark a memory and cause us to feel all sorts of emotions and take our mind right back to a time and place? I'm blessed to say my childhood was full of happy times so now my memories of that time make me happy especially when I think of Christmas. I grew up living about four miles outside of our small city, and it was a wonderful place to live. Just down the road from our home was a Christmas tree farm where they grew many different types of pine trees that would later be harvested for Christmas trees. It was our family tradition for my dad to take my sister and I to go pick out our tree. We didn't have far to go, so mom would get the living room ready and she always had hot chocolate waiting when we got back. I remember a couple of times we came home with a ginormous tree my mom would roll her eyes at my dad as he would say, "it looked shorter outside" and we would all laugh. Sometimes we would pop popcorn to string and hang as a garland on our tree or we might just hang our ornaments, but every year our home would be full of the fresh aroma of pine. A time or two my mom asked my dad to also pick out a fresh pine wreath to hang outside and my dad would ask which wreath had just been made.
Now that I'm grown that family tree farm has closed and the property is a tree reserve where they grow several different types of rare trees. I miss those days of picking out a tree with my dad and sister and teasing my sister that the tree she liked most looked crooked. I used to tell her eyes were uneven if she thought a certain tree looked good. (Wasn't I a sweet little sister?) When choosing a wreath from Christmas Forest for review online it was funny because I started imaging the scent of pine and I was immediately happy. I chose the Santa's Favorite wreath made with wisps of Noble Fir, Princess Pine, and decked out with Ponderosa pine cones, Juniper and Incense berries! Included in the box with my wreath was a beautiful golden organdy bow.
There is no place where we can find a fresh pine wreath with this much attention to detail and constructed with quality. I hung my hook on our front door and had to move the wreath around several times before I had right where I liked it, and I noted very little shedding. We have an outer glass door so this wreath seems to look framed and is trapped between our doors. When you open our door that pine scent wafts through our whole house like it's happy to escape and spread through home. I've noticed myself walking up and opening our door just so I can take a big whiff of that delightful smell. Instantly my mind goes back to hanging our handmade ornaments on our tree as a child, and how everything was magic. Today, I get to share with the Booper the joy and scents of a happy childhood thanks to Christmas Forest.
