I've always been a sucker for things that come in small packages, and when that happens to be chocolate cake well you've got my vote. When you're cooking for one or cooking for a family finding easy and quick meals when bellies are growling can be a challenge. When my husband was on swing shift meals around our house were sporadic and sit-down family meals just didn't happen. It's not that we didn't take the time to sit down together we just were never eating at the same times. One of us always was eating left overs which is fine, but I always hated cooking a meal just to sit down and eat alone. Learning about Shirley J was like opening a window to a whole new world of food ideas for our family. I really wish I had known about these easy meals for one back then.

From the beginning Shirley J has been all about helping families create quick and easy meals with their Whisk Bliss a unique cooking base. The whole concept behind this product is awesome! Every meal needs a starting point and when you have a versatile product that you can build on you're always going to have the makings of a meal. I received three different flavors of their Mugging to try along with two of their adorable Santa Mustache mugs. These mugs are also perfect for the no-shave November which my husband happens to be participating with this year. He has a full beard now which is a bit annoying to me, not that he cares too much. Plus I understand the meaning behind the not shaving and it's a good awareness tool.
I tried the Quiche Mugging mix first, and I added cheese and sweet peppers. The instructions on the pouch are super easy, and they give a few different ingredient ideas so you make it to your own tastes. The quiche came out of the microwave light and fluffy (pictured below) with all the cheese melted into the batter. It was good, but the next time I added salsa and the juices and spicy kick made this perfect for me!
Now on to the good , yummy, and down right scrumptious Mugging mix that was our family favorite - Chocolate Brownie Cake no less. Yes, it absolutely tastes as good as it sounds. As if that wasn't good enough on it's own the mix packet gives a few ideas on how to change up the recipe so I added peanut butter. Peanut butter and chocolate cake right out of the microwave people! It's sinful.
I enjoyed trying these Mugging mixes from Shirley J, but I know that I have someone in mind that would really benefit from something designed for singles, my grandmother. She lives alone and she talks about not ever wanting to cook because she'll be eating by herself, and since we can't always eat with her these would make a perfect gift. Many friends that went off to college and stayed in the dorms would have loved a Shirley J gift set as a going away gift. Because let's face it food on campus not the greatest. While browsing around their site I discovered lots of delicious meal ideas and products I look forward to trying, along with more awesome mugs! Now I can truthfully say, I got mugged, and I liked it! You will too, so visit their site and shop for your holiday gifts.
