The bustling city of Winkopolis is primed and ready for their favorite Ultra to save the day! Ellie Ultra is a super new children's series by Gina Bellisario. Featuring a quirky African-American girl who tackles everyday problems while saving her city from the world's worst super-villains. The series is filled with humor and action and targeted for ages 6-8. Read on to learn more about this series and enter for a chance to win two signed copies from the series for your super reader!

Ellie Ultra: Team Earth Takeover
When her teacher assigns a new team project for Earth Day, Ellie can't wait to pair up with her best friend Hannah. After all, as a superhero, it's Ellie's job to save stuff — including the planet! When the project becomes more than her super-skills can handle, Ellie uses one of her parents' super inventions to create a copy of herself. But when Ellie #2 threatens to take over the project, it's up to the real Ellie to bring the project back down to earth.

Ellie Ultra: Super Fluffy to the Rescue
As a superhero, Ellie can stop almost any foe except for boredom. When all her friends are busy, Ellie has a brilliant idea: she'll use her parents' latest invention the Ultra Animator to bring Super Fluffy, her favorite stuffed animal, to life. But when the Ultra Animator also animates Doomsday, the super-villain from Ellie's favorite comic book, she has bigger problems to deal with. Can Ellie save Winkopolis from destruction, or does this spell D-O-O-M for her hometown?

My Thoughts
These splendid books captivated me and the Booper. He's really getting into reading chapter books together especially when there's so much action! The Ellie Ultra books are full of super villian chasing, plotting, scheming and saving the day of course. Ellie's world is a colorful place to read about with a pet iguana named Cyclops and parents that are always busy working in their laboratory there's no shortage of excitement. These books worked well to keep the Booper's interest, and the imagination in the writing didn't leave me bored as a parent reading along. I enjoyed turning the page to see what would happen next. Ellie Ultra is anything but predictable! The illustrations by Jessika fon Innerebner are delightful and occur just enough to keep young readers going. While we received the third and fourth book in the series they are easily read as stand alone titles. The Booper is seven years old so he's right in the pocket of suggested reading ages. He enjoyed all the characters and animals in the stories. Each chapter was a good length for children reading on their own, and I like that there's a Glossary in the back along with a comprehension guide to help parents engage after the story.

The Ellie Ultra girl superhero books are available from Capstone Publishing, and you can find author Gina Bellisario on her site.
