Have you ever wanted to have a close encounter with a shark? Some of us may never have the opportunity to experience the thrill of seeing a live shark, but National Geographic Kids offers us the chance to see beautiful images of sharks in their natural habitat. While on our honeymoon, we visited an aquarium in Cancun, Mexico and I'll never forget getting to "pet" a sand shark for the first time. While it was a very small shark it was the first one I touched and I'll never forget the experience. These fascinating creatures bring lots of excitement and fear so during the week of shark frenzy is the perfect time to help your children learn more about sharks with National Geographic Kids. Learn more about their newest title and enter for a chance to win all six of these JAWsome books!
The Ultimate Book of Sharks by internationally acclaimed marine photographer and National Geographic Explorer Brian Skerry is an underwater adventure like no other.  With exclusive photographs and personal insight from Skerry, this book takes the reader below the surface and into the minds of these spectacular predators.  Beyond the feared fins and terrifying teeth, readers will learn what its like to swim with these amazing fish, how they live, what they eat, their superhero-like senses and better understand why these graceful, confident, perfectly sculpted predators are also vulnerable animals that we need to protect.

Brian Skerry’s photography and in-the-field research are in a league of their own.  In 2017 he was awarded the Nikon National Geographic Explorer of the Year and his work has appeared in the New York Times, Smithsonian, National Geographic Magazine, and the Washington Post, among others. Perry's photography is featured in solo exhibits around the world and he is also the Explorer-In-Residence and Trustee at the New England Aquarium.  His extreme talent for photographing marine wildlife and underwater environments is showcased on every page of The Ultimate Book of Sharks, creating a comprehensive, eye-popping and entertaining first-hand look at all things shark, including:
  • Long days at the beach are finally here!  Find out if YOU really are on the menu!
  • Shark Safety 101
