Can you believe it's already September? It feels like we just started back to homeschool and it's true what they say, the days are slow but the years fly by quickly. This year as part of our schooling we've been using games to help teach valuable lessons, plus they're fun! Some of our go-to games on our game shelf are from Winning Moves Games. I'm going to share some of our recent educational game favorites for our 11-year-old and 5-year-old. 

Game Spotlight: The Mermaid's Jewels

It's easy to find games that our 11-year-old can play with us, but the challenge these days is to find games where our 5-year-old can participate easily. She loves mermaids so The Mermaid's Jewels game caught her attention and she was excited to play. The game play is easy and fun, though the beads are small so The Mermaid's Jewels is for children ages 5 and up. 

With normal game play your necklace will end up with lots of different colors and patterns, but we also like to just use the beads and create patterns. There's so many great educational benefits from this type of game play, plus it's wonderful for fine motor skills! Little Miss is such a sensory kid making the sound of the beads trickling down the game a thrill along with using her hands to grasp the beads. We haven't used the green beads yet, since they're a negative bead in the game. If you have a mermaid fan or a child that is needing some find motor skill, pattern recognition, or counting practice, The Mermaid's Jewels will make a wonderful addition to your game schooling shelf!
