The last few days over our holiday break I've been purging and decluttering, but as I think of the new year my only motto will be to live more simply. There's a wonderful quote from Fred Rogers that has stuck with me since I read it.
“Life is deep and simple, and what our society gives us is shallow and complicated.”

With homeschooling our kids and staying home more over the last two years I've been learning what makes me happiest. I've found that my favorite things are the simple things. Reading a good book, playing a game with my kids, laughing at a funny video with my husband, baking cookies with my kids, talking on the phone with a friend, teaching my kids an old song I sang as a child, dancing around the kitchen to a good song, dropping off a donation to the children in foster care, those are the simple things that give my life the deep I need. It's okay to reject society's push to complicate your schedule and your life. In 2022 my resolution is to let the deep moments happen every day as I embrace the simple with joy and peace.
