Feeding Our Feathered Friends With Perky Pet

As the weather takes a turn from cold to bitter cold here in Indiana we are taking extra steps to take care of our feathered friends. During the cold Winter months it's a good idea to put out a bird feeder since it's harder for birds to find nourishment. We chose the Squirrel Slammer feeder since we have lots of squirrels on our block and though we enjoy watching them frolic in the yard we didn't want them stealing the bird feed. This feeder has a unique design that helps to keep pesky squirrels from turning our feeder into their own buffet. When weight is put on the feeder it drops down closing the feeder holes, so the squirrels can't get the food.
The Squirrel Slammer feeder was easy to fill with seed and hung easily from our Shepard's hook. As you can see I had lots of help with filling the feeder. The Booper and I love watching birds from our window and I enjoy pointing out the ones I know. Bird watching is not only a fun pastime it's also educational! (You know I love throwing in a learning moment when possible) Teaching kids about nature is always more fun when it's hands-on learning and giving them a sense of responsibility. Our little man loves to be a good helper and helping to take care of the wild birds makes him proud.
