Spending time together with my favorite little guy is always fun, but he has really enjoys our time reading books. We received two books for review from Capstone Young Readers, so we could share our opinions here without bias. I think you can see in the picture above that he was captivated by the illustrations by Pascal Campion in these lovely and simple picture books. Written by Maria Catherine "
Time Together:Me and Mom" and "
Time Together:Me and Dad" depict children doing simple activities with their mom or dad. I wondered if the Booper would be too old for these books, but he sat for a long time looking at the pictures.
Beautiful images of mothers playing with their son or daughter make this book relate-able to young children. The Booper had one favorite illustration, a picture showing a mother and son playing with a toy train set. He didn't want to turn the page, we had to talk about the train, the boy, the mom, and of course the steam engine! The Booper is a huge fan of trains just like so many little boys so this image really spoke to his heart.

With these two books the images really tell the story of moms and dads spending time with their children enjoying every day moments. My husband is a musician and he plays guitar but he also plays our keyboard from time to time when working on pieces of music. The picture above from
Time Together: Me and Dad caught our attention as we were reading, and the Booper pointed out all the similarities of this boy and his dad to our lives. Written for ages two-six I would say they succeeded in gauging to meet their audience on the right level. The Booper gives his approval for these hardback books by asking to read them again and again.
