Have you ever wished you could find a family-friendly movie that wasn't animated? I love a great animated movie, but sometimes on movie night I want something with a little more human excitement. We were recently given the opportunity to enjoy a new release from Pure Flix Entertainment, Pirate's Code: The Adventures of Mickey Matson. The follow up to Mickey Matson and the Copperhead Treasure I was hopeful this movie could entertain the tough crowd at our house. In this follow up to Mickey Matson and the Copperhead Treasure, Mickey Matson is at it again; this time pitted against the evil Admiral Ironsides and his gang of pirates who are intent on destroying civilization. They're new invention, the Tesla Coil, is a weapon of mass destruction that will send an electromagnetic pulse throughout the world, destroying every electronic device in existence. With the help of a secret organization, Mickey and his best friend Sully embark on a mission to stop the pirates from taking over a submarine and stealing the last part needed to complete their devastating weapon. If Admiral Ironsides succeeds in his plan, civilization will be sent back to the Stone Age. It's a race against time, and the fate of the world hangs in the balance.
My thoughts: The Booper being five years old is very timid and has not watched any movies with violence or much suspense other than a few well-known cartoons. I worried that this might be just a bit more than he could handle, but Pirate's Code received the "Family Approved" seal of approval from Dove.org for a reason. There was just enough action to keep us all watching without scaring my little softie out of the room. Sure there were several scenes that were funny to me as an adult, but for the Booper it was all serious business and very suspenseful! Even though Pirate's Code was great as a stand alone film, I will definitely be looking into snatching a copy of Mickey Matson and the Copperhead Treasure to see how it all began. Mickey is a fun character and your family will get wrapped up in his story. Check out the trailer below and shop for your own copy at Pure Flix Entertainment.
