There's nothing quite like having an encounter with a wild animal. Growing up out in the country in southern Indiana I remember riding my bike one day and pausing down from our house at a creek to throw in some sticks. All of the sudden, I heard a strange blowing sound and the next thing I knew a huge Buck with large antlers ran out into the road right in front of my bicycle. I was scared to death, all I could do was just freeze, I couldn't even breathe. The large deer turned and looked right at me then took off running to the other side of the road. It was such a brief encounter and probably only lasted a few seconds, but I'll never forget it. We would see deer all the time around our house, but never had a been that close to a Buck and never had I felt so vulnerable! Wild animals are amazing to see, but they also deserve our respect. Read below about the film The Journey Home and enter for a chance to win a fun package. When Luke Mercier (Dakota Goyo, Real Steel) heard some noise outside his house, he never could have guessed what he would find. Discovering a young polar bear cub that has been separated from its mother, Luke knows he has to do something to help. Despite the warnings of his family and friends, Luke speeds off on a snowmobile, with the cub in tow, deep into the frozen wilderness. But when a violent storm closes in, Luke’s mother (Bridget Moynahan, “Blue Bloods”) and family friend Muktuk (Goran Visnjic, “ER”) frantically search for the daring pair as they defy starvation and below freezing temperatures so both boy and bear can complete their own journeys home.

When I took my 2 sons to the park we were walking around and there were a flock of geese and my youngest son turned around to walk to me and one of the geese started chasing him and biting him on the butt, it was scarey but funny too

Besides the deer and raccoons around here, I' haven't encountered any large wild animals around here. Though I was almost attacked by a ringtail when I opened a hunting blind one time! My favorite wild animal is the wolf, though I've never seen one in real life!

I had many encounters as a child. I've assisted wounded birds several times, snuck up on partridges thumping on a log, looked up from a campfire to see a lynx, listened to wolves howling outside..... my favorite wild animal is probably the tiger.
ReplyDeleteI have only encountered raccoon in the garage or in the driveway next to the car! Both encounters were scary because they began to hiss!

The only wild animal that I have ever seen or heard was a raccoon that was looking around for food one night in our camp ground.
