Give Dad A Delicious Father's Day Gift From Fairytale Brownies

Father's day is just around the corner and I can't wait to spoil my dad with some delicious treats from Fairytale Brownies! Father's day is two-fold now. I think of my own father and I think of the father of my kids. Today, I want to share a little about my dad. My dad is a simple guy. He's a hard worker and has worked at a power plant for over thirty-five years! Before working at the plant he was a farm hand and would work long hours to take care of mom and sis (before I was born.) He's taught me a lot of things, but one thing he has taught me by example is to treat others the way you want to be treated. I'll share more stories about my dad and Fairytale Brownies below. 

My Dad. 

My dad has been known to go out of his way to make sure other people are taken care of, even when it means self-sacrifice. We were not wealthy by any means, but always had what we needed because my dad worked over-time to be sure of that. I remember one time I was annoyed because he always gave money to a charity that would take kids to the circus and my sister and I didn't get to go to the circus that year. I spouted off something hateful to my dad because I was mad about not getting to go to the circus when he bought tickets for other kids to go. He asked me something I'll never forget, "Becky, would you rather do fun things all year long or only get to go to the circus?" I responded I that I wanted to do fun stuff all year. He replied, "Then be grateful for what you get, because for those kids I bought tickets for the circus might be the only fun thing they get to do all year." If my memory serves me after that I grumbled something about him under my breath and went to my room, however I did give thought to the mystery kids that didn't get to do fun stuff and it made me thankful. His drive to provide for not only our family, but kids he would never even meet gave me a great example of what real charity is all about. Showing love to someone simply because they need it. It planted the seeds in me to give even when no one is there to see it. 

When my dad stepped in the door late for supper one night mom asked what took him so long, as he walked ahead into the kitchen we could all see he was muddy. He explained how he had stopped on our country road to help some teenagers that had gotten their vehicle stuck in the mud. Dad didn't know the kids, but he said if my sister or I were ever silly and needed help he hoped that someone would do the same for us. That's just who my dad is. I love him.
