When you’re the parent of a curious child, having durable and accessible outlets for their curiosity is a must. So, I was excited to introduce my two kids to the WOW scope from My First Lab. Both of them enjoy collecting leaves, rocks, and feathers -- all of which are easy to examine with this durable microscope. Read on to learn what we thought of this scope from My First Lab or watch my video review below.
Out of the box, all I had to do was add two AA batteries and drop in the eyepieces. Two slides with samples are included - one glass slide and one cardboard slide that features 3D samples of sand, a feather, and an insect leg. But you could put any small specimen on the microscope without a slide and enjoy discovering interesting aspects of everyday objects.
The microscope itself is lightweight and sturdy. I never worried about the kids bumping into it and would confidently allow them to take the microscope outside while they were playing in the backyard.
I personally would love to give one of these children's microscopes as a gift to my 2nd grader’s classroom. It’s perfect for curious little minds and it’s a great gateway into deeper scientific exploration. If you'd like to purchase the WOW scope or learn more about the other great products from My First Lab be sure to visit their site or follow them on Facebook and Twitter.
My brother had a microscope when we were little. It came with a whole bunch of slides with different samples on them. We had lots of fun with that.
