Several of my mom friends have been raving on Facebook about their new pressure cooker multi pots and I wondered if it was worth all the space of having another countertop appliance. We have very limited space in our kitchen so I don't like having appliances that I'm not going to use more than once a year. When the opportunity came to try the Mealthy Multipot I thought here's your chance to see if it's worth its space and if it could live up to the hype. I jumped in, and here's what happened...
Out of the box, I was intimidated by all the extra accessories and the idea of using pressure to cook food. I had memories of my mom using the old-fashioned pressure cooker when I was a kid. My mom used to yell at us kids to stay out of the kitchen and I remember thinking her pressure cooker was like a death machine just waiting to explode on one of us. I guess those thoughts had really crossed over into my adulthood because I was pretty nervous when I first used my Mealthy MultiPot. With all the settings on the cooker, it was handy to have the booklet and quick start guide to get me cooking!
Once I chose my recipe, I simply layered all the ingredients into the pot and placed on the lid giving it a twist until I heard the chiming sounds letting me know it was locked and ready to go. My family loves spicy foods and one of my go-to meals is a southwestern quinoa mixture with beans, onions, corn, peppers, tomato, and of course chicken and spices. I used the poultry setting and it came out perfectly. The chicken was fully cooked and juicy and tender just like it had been in a slow cooker. The quinoa and veggies were delicious and with some fresh tomatoes and peppers from our garden, this was a delicious meal that I can make any time in just 35 minutes. Ta-da! No explosions, just delicious dinner made easy. The best part is I only had to clean up one pot.
