Welcome to the Breast Cancer Awareness Hop organized by The Review Wire and Chatty Patty's Place. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and while most of us are already aware of Breast Cancer, for me this month is about remembering what matters most in this world. Our loved ones. We are given the precious gift of life and while we all have times that we might take it for granted this month is about recognizing others that are going through a life and death battle. It seems that every family I know has been touched by the dreaded C-word, cancer. My aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer and it was a very strange thing to know what to say or ask. Mostly we just said that we were praying for her and sending our love. You might also be asking what more can you do to help?
What do I give to a person with cancer?
What do you give to a person going through cancer treatments? Our family friend that was fighting colon cancer was very open about her experience. When asked if there was anything she needed, she mentioned that she needed small blankets or throws because her treatments made it hard for her to stay warm. We all got together and had a blanket shower for her so she would have blankets to remind her that we all cared and wanted to be there for her in spirit on days we couldn't be there in person. We also made her a box full of small index cards with special notes of love and encouragement so she would have one for every day through her treatments.
Give Your Time
If you know someone that has been diagnosed with Breast Cancer or any type of cancer the simplest way to know how you can help them is to ask! If you have free time and you would like to volunteer there are lots of great ways to show your support and open your heart to helping others. One of the great charities we have locally is Chemobuddies. Their volunteer service makes sure no one has to face cancer alone. Ask around and search online to find a way to get involved with a charity near you!
Send Healing Thoughts With BlankieGram
BankieGram blankies are carefully designed to wrap the recipients in comfort and positive thoughts to remind them that others are thinking of them. When their "Healing Thoughts" blankies became quickly popular, they realized that their blankets would make great gifts for other life events, so they put their heads together and the ideas flowed. BlankieGram now offers blankies that support healing, comfort, bravery, meditation, faith, honor mothers, and that wrap all kinds of soft, warm hugs around the recipients. Wrap your loved one in a Healing Thoughts blanket from BlankieGram.
