My Little Geek~ book review

When Sarah and Andrew Spear contacted me about reviewing their children's book "My Little Geek" I was intrigued. I loved the concept of a "smarter" ABC book, and that it would be different from what is already being offered. There are so many different Alphabet books out there, and I've seen a lot of them while looking at books for our son. To be honest we only owned one other ABC book, before I received " My Little Geek" to review. I just didn't see the point in buying more books with the same pictures for every letter. I mean how many different pictures of an apple do you really need? I believe you should always give your children a variety of books to see what sparks their interest.
There just wasn't much variety in the market of ABC books until now.

When the book arrived in the mail, I told our son he had a prize in the mail. He was laughing and jumping up and down. He squealed with glee as I pulled his new book out of the package. I was hoping he wouldn't look depleted when he saw his new prize was a book, but he grabbed it out of my hands and ran to sit down and "read" it. I love that he is so excited about books!

As you may know we were preparing for a family vacation, so I packed his new book in his bag with other toys and items for the car. As you can see from the pictures, he loves looking at the cute illustrations of the "little geek" character in the book. The colorful and fun illustrations were a very nice surprise. I had to smile seeing the cat made with a soda can for a head, and the part that says, "C is for Caffeine".   When you first open this book you will notice how different it is from other ABC books. Instead of listing plain everyday items, this book will require your child to learn something other than just the ABC's. I think a few of the words were over his head(since a few were over mine!) which is nice since this book is going to grow with him as he gets closer to pre-school level.
How could you not want an ABC book that tells your child G is for Genius?

  1. I don't have a favorite "young" children's book. But, one thing I wanted to be sure to include in my children's library are the Shel Silverstein books. I remember loving them as a child. They are just quirky and fun.

  41. That's an educative way to learn new things and terms while having fun. I remember when I was in 1st grade I had to complete the alphabet and I wrote A is for alligator - the teacher was so surprised!

  42. I've always been a big fan of educational books for kids. Before I could read I would pour over books to look at the pictures and before I could read I'd make up my own stories through pictures in the book. I became a great reader as I got older. Golden Books were my favorite.

  43. You had my attention with the title of the book being MY LITTLE GEEK. I like both ways of children learning their ABCs! Every child is different and learns at different speeds. So I think it’s great to have more than one way to teach them!

  51. Variety in presenting concepts is good. However, I am not sure I would like to buy a book entitled "My little geek". I can guarantee you that has very negative memories associated with that word in my family.
