Terrific Tostadas with Wholly Guacamole

I received the guacamole mentioned below free for the purpose of review. All views and opinions are my own honest evaluations. See Disclosure.

Hi everyone! Today I'm so excited to be writing about one of my favorite power foods. Guacamole! When I was younger I was always a chicken when it came to trying new foods. I watched people eating green guacamole and I was disgusted. I didn't try guacamole for the first time until I was in my twenties. I always ordered my food with no guacamole, and one day at my favorite Mexican restaurant they delivered my dish with guacamole. They were so busy I just figured I would scrape it off and enjoy. My friends teased me and told me I should try it. I dipped the tip of my fork into the guacamole, and touched it to my tongue. To my amazement it wasn't that bad, so I tasted a little more. That day I ended up eating every last bite, and learning that I actually love guacamole.  A while back as I was shopping at our local Walmart I noticed this package of pre-made guacamole called Wholly Guacamole and decided to give it a try. It was so delicious I was able to make my own dishes taste as good as my favorites from the restaurants. Now I have the chance to review and share about Wholly Guacamole here at The Mommy Island!

I received a really awesome cooler packed with a variety of Wholly Guacamole products (all natural, gluten free and kosher) to test on my family. My little guy thought the foam avocado was fun to throw around our kitchen. We've tried everything you see pictured above. I'm a bit sad looking at this picture because all the salsa went way too fast. My husband and I both were surprised at how delicious the Wholly Salsa was, and I'm sad because we haven't been able to find it at our local grocery store yet. I'm pretty picky when it comes to salsa, and the Roasted Tomato flavor was some of the best salsa I've ever tasted. Sweet with a nice warm kick of cilantro, Wholly Salsa is was perfect for our family's taste. We scarfed it all down so fast as a snack it didn't make it to our terrific tostada night.

Just to change things up a bit from regular tacos I decided to make tostadas for dinner. Just as easy as tacos only with more flair! This is so easy you can probably guess what's involved just by the picture, but in case you want to know exactly how I made them read on!

I used:

  • Ground Beef
  • Refried Beans
  • Taco Seasoning packet
  • Tomatoes
  • Onions
  • Green Peppers
  • Cheese
  • Sour Cream
  • Wholly Guacamole (classic)
  • Tostada Shells
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400.
In my skillet I browned the beef and seasoned it with Taco seasoning mix. I lined my baking sheet with foil just to make clean up easier. Spread each tostada shell with refried beans then added on the taco beef crumbles and topped with tomatoes, onions, peppers and cheese. Baked until the cheese was melted. (about 15 minutes) Then we each topped our tostadas with sour cream, and of course Wholly GUACAMOLE! We enjoyed everything we tasted from Wholly Guacamole, but my two favorites would have to be the Classic Guacamole and the Roasted Tomato Salsa. Both were so delicious as a snack or in a dish. I can't wait for my local stores to carry Wholly Salsa!
