Colorful Fun - Jenga TETRIS Review

Have you ever played the nerve-wracking edge-of-your-seat fun Hasbro game called Jenga? You loved it right? Of course you did, and so did I which was why I was anxious to try the new Jenga TETRIS. This new game from Hasbro has traded the simple wooden blocks from the original for new plastic TETRIS shaped blocks of all different colors. This more colorful family game has all the fun of the original and is a bit trickier to play.
My husband and I had a chance to play a few rounds on our own before the Booper took over. I couldn't believe my husband had never had the chance to play the original Jenga so it was great to get to play TETRIS style together. Game set up is easy you simply stack the blocks in a three by three square and alternate the direction with each level. Once you've stacked all the blocks in a tower you're ready to play. Player one using only one hand decides which block they want to remove and very carefully pushes the block through to the other side. If player one successfully removes a block they stack that block on the top of the tower then it's the next player's turn. Play continues until someone knocks over the tower.

Now the game took on a whole new meaning when I played with the Booper. When you're a three year old you don't really get the concept that when the blocks fall over you lose. He kept thinking he was the winner when he would knock over the tower, and then we got to build it again and again. With the unique TETRIS shapes this actually made for a good lesson in spacial recognition and then at times we sorted the blocks by color. I know it's the homeschooler coming out in me, but sometimes you just can't pass up on those learning moments especially not when they're so much fun! This game is made for ages 8 and up but younger children like the Booper can still have a good time building with the game pieces. Quiet concentration and panic as the blocks start to tip over this game is full of action and lots of fun to play.
